I have worked in the mental health field in some form or fashion since 1993. Early on, I worked with people who suffered from debilitating mental illnesses (schizophrenia, psychosis, severe depression, etc). Gradually, I moved onto working with more stable populations, people who are mostly healthy and functional in life, but who experience internal obstacles to achieving the life they want.
I have a Master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from a school called the California Institute of Integral Studies, graduating in 2003.
Since then, I have received supervision and trainings in such areas as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Emotional Regulation, mindfulness, Jungian dreamwork, family system theories, gestalt therapies, and existential approaches.
The letters after my name (LMHC) stand for Licensed Mental Health Counselor. This is a credential that recognizes me as a fully trained and professional psychotherapist.
